Sailing The Caribbean – You know you’re on a boat!!

We’ve reached the end of our first Caribbean sailing season and it has been amazing! We travelled about 650nm from Puerto Rico to Trinidad, visited 13 countries (some only overnight) and stopped at 16 islands. It has been a huge learning experience – clearing in and out of all these countries and discovering their unique cultures. The one big take-away – anchoring in the Caribbean is all about the roll – trying to find the most comfortable place to stay! Like the title says – you know you’re on a boat because you never stop moving!

This last week has gone by in a blur of activity, getting the boat all squared away for the storage season. We feel really good about Peake’s and the care they extend to all the boats in their yard. Our caretaker – “G” has been onboard and is all set to check on Crimson Kathryn once a month. We have a dehumidifier running to help keep the boat dry and we put up our new sun-shade to help keep the boat cool.

This season was all about exploring new islands and meeting new cruisers. We were fortunate to spend a lot of time with our friends Sharron and John (SV Sundog) and to also meet many new friends that we hope to see again next season. For now, the boat is all tucked away; we are packed and ready to fly home and Caribbean Cruising Season 1 is at the end!!! Can’t wait for next season! Thanks for joining us on our adventure this season.

Here are photos that didn’t make it into this season’s posts! Enjoy!
